( THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR MORE. )

The Oswego Historical Society, Inc., is a not-for-profit Kansas corporation that was organized after the City of Oswego centennial celebration in 1967, to care for historical artifacts and documents that may be of assistance to historians and genealogical researchers, to maintain certain historic sites in the community, and to provide educational services for the public.

The Society receives part of its financial support from local government through the Labette County Historical Society, part from an endowment from the Wayne O'Connell estate, and much of its support from individual donations from private citizens.

The Society is governed by a Board of Directors, elected in April at the annual membership meeting. The current Board consists of: Lonnie Addis, Gerald Barnard, Florence Boulware, Laura Cunningham, Richard Farris, Marie Horner, Janet King, Cheryl Lewis, John Davis, Jolene Gaier, Ralph Gaier, Eleanor Monroe, Jean Snyder, and Donna Strickland.

The officers elected by the Board in 2007 are:

Gerald Barnard   President
Eleanor P. Monroe   First Vice-President, Treasurer
E. Marie Horner   Secretary, Assistant Treasurer
Jean Snyder   Assistant Treasurer

In addition to their responsibilities as officers, Eleanor Monroe holds the post of Curator, and Jean Snyder and Marie Horner are Genealogy Researchers.
