 Genealogy
( THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR MORE. )

We all like to have a sense of where we came from. That's why the Oswego Historical Society places great emphasis on its genealogy resources, which are headquartered in the Museum. We are glad to help those researching family members with connections to Oswego, and we can provide research services ourselves for a very modest fee. Please enquire via e-mail, at the address given on our home page, or in the Contact Us page.

The Museum houses books, software, and microfilmed records that may be of help to you. These include:

  • IGI Index
  • All available Federal and Kansas Census for Labette County
  • Tombstone Reading Inscription Books Volumes I & II
  • Up to date records of Oswego Cemetery listing location of graves
  • Marriage records Labette County 1867 thru 1891
  • Family Tree Maker Volumes 1 thru 22
  • Social Security Death records
  • Oswego newspapers on microfilm, 1869 to the modern day

In addition, we maintain the records of the Oswego High School Alumni Association, and have available many volumes of history pertaining to Labette County and the City of Oswego, which have proven valuable in tracking down difficult-to-document ancestors. We will include a more complete index of these resources on this page in future. For now, here are some of the works available:

  • History of Labette County, Kansas, 1893
  • History of Labette County, Kansas, and Representative Citizens, 1901, by Nelson Case
  • History of State of Kansas, 1883, by A.T. Andreas
  • Directory of History and Genealogy in Kansas

We'll be glad to have you come and familiarize yourself with what's available.

Please check back periodically. We will be adding new information to this section over time.
